GPS Alternatives
Cellular Technology Delivers GPS Capabilities

OEM Data Delivery has introduced the ST-900 Cellular
Service Tracker. This versatile, scaleable system
is ideal for precisely tracking equipment activity at
remote locations. Data generated includes cumulative
machine hours, equipment location, idle vs. work logs
and odometer readings.
The system also generates custom service alerts,
so management can schedule maintenance when
it’s most advantageous and over-servicing is avoided.
It can be used in conjunction with a Fuel Tracker option
to track, in real time, the dispensing of fuel and other
consumables into individual equipment or vehicles.
It has proved to be a valuable tool for preventing the theft,
or unauthorized use, of fuel and equipment.
The ST-900 was engineered for severe service, and is a valuable tool for both asset
allocation between multiple sites, and for job costing. OEM Data Delivery’s ST-900 Service Tracker
works wirelessly, paperlessly and “hands-free.” Management reports are generated nightly
and information can be uploaded into virtually any back office system. It is a major time-saver
for generating regulatory documents, particularly fuel tax refunds for off-highway use.
Systems are custom-engineered to user requirements and can be implemented quickly;
training typically requires just a few hours. The ST-900 is based on rugged jobsite technology
developed by OEM Data Delivery and used by construction companies, landfill operators,
rental firms and others who operate multiple jobsites. OEM Data Delivery offers a broad range
of total fleet management solutions, including a radio-based Service Tracker. This wireless,
“drive-by” data collection technology is ideal for many applications. Download flyer

ST-550 Radio Service Trackers are Virtual RFID
Hour Meters that also Generate Idle / Work Logs
and Service Alerts

Background: Diesel engine idling is a huge,
hidden cost that negatively impacts every
company that uses diesel power, on or
off-highway. The average heavy-duty truck,
consumes 0.8 gallons of fuel an hour while
idling, based on EPA testing.
Increasingly, state and local regulators have
become involved. ATRI (American Transportation
Research Institute) has published a compendium
of idling regulations, updated in October, 2008.
Long-haul trucks idle 500 to 3,500 hours a year, burning a half gallon to one and a half
gallons of diesel fuel an hour. According to the Department of Energy, this consumes up to
a billion gallons of diesel fuel a year. The Environmental Protection Agency calculates that
idling also spews 11 million tons of carbon dioxide, 200,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen and
5,000 tons of particulate matter into the air annually.
Trucking companies used to absorb the cost of idling, including paying fines of
up to $22,500. But volatile fuel prices have driven the costs of idling to extreme levels,
and now, owners want answers.
The ST-550 Service Tracker helps managers identify and reduce engine idle time,
and make jobsites immediately more profitable. Eliminating wasted fuel is a major
benefit, but reducing engine idle time also lengthens the service life of transmissions
and engines, reduces carbon build-up, and extends the life of oil and oil filters.
The ST-550 can contribute substantially to the success of company-wide
environmental initiatives.
OEM DD’s ST-550 system is a wireless, paperless, “hands-free” technology
that combines, for the first time, data provided by an RFID hour meter, with
detailed idle and work logs and service alerts. Data is captured passively by
“drive-by”. Low power radio frequency transmits data 100+ yards. When used
with the companion Measura handheld computer, your foreman can also capture
dispensed fuel data crew hours and maintenance schedules. Seven equipment
alarms on the ST-550 help keep preventative maintenance on schedule,
and avoid over or under-servicing.
The ST-550 is a powerful tool that can also provide management with the
analytics for understanding what service tasks take the longest, what equipment
breaks down most often, and other useful metrics. Its reporting feature updates
management information nightly, and automatically generates data for OSHA
and DOT inspections and warranty claims.
Information captured by the ST-550 is easily integrated into back office systems.
Systems are engineered to user requirements and can be implemented quickly;
training typically requires just a few hours. The ST-550 is based on rugged,
field-proven jobsite technology developed by OEM Data Delivery and used by
major construction firms, waste management companies and others who operate
multiple, complex jobsites. Download flyer

Alternative to GPS Simplifies Construction,
Utility Service Management
OEM Data Delivery’s GoPOD is a wireless, hands-free alternative that captures individual
machine locations, plus work time, idle time, and service alerts, accurately, and in real time. It was developed for construction, utility service, and phone and cable companies who
wanted a leaner, more convenient alternative to GPS devices.
GoPOD lets managers understand what’s occurring at
every jobsite, so that every resource – people, equipment,
tools and consumables – can be used to greatest advantage.
It is a far more useful – and more user-friendly – alternative to GPS.
OEM Data Delivery’s GoPOD is a tiny, concealed computer installed in any lube/fuel
truck, low boy truck, mechanics’ truck or supervisor’s vehicle. GoPOD has a
GPS antennae, and a radio antennae. Information is collected passively,
and “hands-free.” GPS coordinates are automatically stamped into the
record as hour data is collected. Information is collected via drive-by,
within a range of 300 ft. line of site, and transmitted via secure radio link.
It is then downloaded into a web report each night, and made available
on a password-protected website. Information easily integrates with any
major back office management system. There is never an interruption of
equipment operation.
The GoPOD GPS alternative has shown it can markedly improve the productivity
of construction, utility management, and phone and cable operations, by eliminating
the piecemeal, manual, (and mistake-prone) tasks necessary to capture critical
jobsite information.
This GPS alternative also facilitates more precise job accounting, and optimizes
maintenance by avoiding over and under-servicing. It is a powerful and effective
tool for preventing the theft, or unauthorized movement, of high-value assets.
GoPOD was engineered to meet the needs of construction, utility service and
phone and cable companies. It is a wireless, automated solution that is, in
several important ways, the ultimate high-performing alternative to GPS.
